"Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region," Rubio said in a late-night statement. He warned Iran directly: “Let me be clear—Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”
According to Rubio, Israeli officials informed Washington that the strike was a necessary act of self-defense. The attack reportedly occurred late Thursday U.S. time (early Friday in the Middle East), and Iranian state media confirmed hearing explosions in Tehran.
